Someone actually said to me last night that a Nickel metal hydride battery is better than LiPo well for all those that may want to use lipos or have questions regarding LiPos their are safety concerns and I found this on one of my flying forums that has some good info in it.

NiMH's are more abundant, cheaper and more idiot proof than LiPO's. (Most of the time)

LiPO's are more efficient at discharging voltage than NiMH battery which is part of the reason they have such a high ROF over NiMH.

LiPO's are also smaller and ligher than NiMH batteries of equal voltage and mAh ratings.

NiMH batteries ar fine, and will get the job done very well and I have reached RPF speeds in the high 20's low 30's with NiMH batteries.

Most importantly...stay away from NiCad which have memory issues and cannot be "topped off".

I've recently moved to Lipo's.

I've got no regrets and will NEVER go back to NiMh.

My old 12V NiMh weighed about 22 OZ

My 11.1 lipo that gives my gun another round per second weighs about 7 oz

A 1/3rd the weight AND an increase in ROF... Can't beat it!

I am with Fireman.... Although I am having a hard time convincing my gears that it is better... All I say is, for Airsoft anything over 30c is gonna be too much.. Ask me how I know...

Lipo batteries are great ,they have a very high energy density. You do need to take care when chargeing them or you can have a fire and if you discharge them too low a voltage they will not take a charge again. If you use them with care they are great . You get high capacity with light weight. As far as the c - rating goes a higher c- rating dose not ruin your gun . What that has to do with is the internal resistance of the cell . The more resistance the cell has the more the voltage supresses wich in turn gives lower voltage to your gun witch will give you a lower rate of fire. The higher the c- rating the higher the Discharge rate of the cell and the higher the quality of the cell witch will give you higher voltage , more discharge cycles and a little faster charge. There is no down side too getting a high c- rate battery. If your gun can't handle a 3 cell lipo use a 2 cell it will be the same as using a 7 - cell nickel metal hydride batt.a good 2- cell lipo can give you the same fire rate as a 8- cel nickel metal batt. Bob.
