FIREMAN, AND ANY OTHER TECHS OUT THERE, I AM LOOKING FOR A NEW SCAR FOR MY COLLECTION BUT ALSO THINKING ABOUT A G36, NOT SURE ABOUT WHICH ONE TO GO WITH.
IM LOOKING FOR A GOOD ONE, THAT I CAN UPGRADE THE SPRING TO ATLEAST 420-450FPS WITH A GOOD ROF. ATLEAST 20 ROF.
WHAT WOULD BE YOUR CHOICE HERE?

Shwell would be the man to talk to about SCARS.

Buy a G36 and you're going to have to buy magazines for it too... The SCAR uses standard M4 magazines :-)

I like any Ares gun. With those, you can swap out the springs without having to open up the gearbox. You could swap out the springs depending on where you're playing to meet field limits. That way, you can shoot 420-450 at Firezone and then put in a much stronger and more painful spring when you're around FA.

You could always run a mag well conversion on the G36.
Stick with the SCAR L so you can use standard M4 mags.
The SCAR H used SR25 type mags,

Every SCAR except for the CA and the VFC H is out of stock at my suppliers. It looks like they are all on order and will be in around the end of the month.
So I vote G36 since those are in stock Very Happy

Are you looking for a gun that will shoot distances or you want this for CQB?

Anyone gets caught doing such a thing (swapping springs after chrono) is typically sent home without refund. Sometimes banned from the field...

So not worth it just to get a little anger out... :-/

If you want distance, you'll want a SCAR L with the 14.5" barrel. (CA, ARES, VFC)

The short versions are clone SCAR H which has a 10" barrel (G&G and AGM). The true SCAR H is 7.62 so it wont use standard M4 mags. It looks like some of them are putting together SCAR H uppers with SCAR L lowers so you get the shorter CQB barrel with the M4 mag well.
You could always add a QD suppressor and a longer 363-400mm inner barrel for the added distance and accuracy

I would expect the the G&G, ARES and VFC are the nicer shooting guns with the better overall quality. The CA gun is probably very nice construction but in typical CA form, it will probably shoot less than 350 FPS.

auto all these shoot less than 350 im hoping to put a better spring on them
isnt scar L shorter than scar H?
what do they mean when they say scar light? scar heavy? does that pertain to weight or length of barrel or purpose cqc or field?

SCAR L (light)= 5.56 NATO with 14.5" carbine lenght barrel

SCAR H (heavy)= 7.62 NATO with 10" barrel with compensator.

The real steel versions are built with modularity in mind and barrel swaps are easy. Airsoft versions are almost always in 10" or 14.5" barrel lengths.

It looks like VFC offers 3 barrel lengths: 10", 14.5" and 18".

The AGM will be set up to shoot 380-420 out of the box.

This is one of two things:

1. The cheapest one IS the best because they have something to prove being a less known name and not just riding in on the hope that their name will sell the gun.

2. The cheapest one has simply put a heavier spring into the gun BUT has not exactly put in parts that will stand up to said spring over time. Springs are cheap, parts to support said spring are not.

As for range, that's all in the hop. As you saw with my pistol at that last game. It's shooting 150 FPS less than yours but the hop is REALLY nice.

What you want is a gun that's kissing 400 so you can use it at Firezone AND other FA games (admit it, you'll keep going...) but also has a good hop up system going for it that will put that "magic" (it truly is magic, ask any tech) amount of hop that makes the bb's fly out like they have their own little booster packs built in.

This same "magic hop" is about the ONLY thing that still makes Tokyo Marui such a sought after brand. If you're willing to do some experimenting though you can find the combination (hop rubber, hop chamber, barrel) that gives you that same "magic hop" as well. My L85 is a good example of it. It shoots farther than my old DMR that was pushing 540 FPS and yes only does 395. This with a plastic hop chamber and some old random hop rubber I had sitting around from another gun... Once the rubber is dead, I'll be back to the drawing board... :-/

The info provided has been adequate so far.

Here is some food for thought...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vZmzajIdBS0

That vid is a pretty damn good break down of what you cna expect from the Scars onthe market.

I personally have had 2 Echo 1's and one Dboys Scar.. They are the same exact gun.. With a Shim job from Fireman, I would put any of the clones up against the higher end versions... Dboys, AGM, and Echo 1 are the same gun... STAY AWAY FROM JLS... The only thing that is better on the Higher end guns IMHO is the stock Hinge... I have been through 3 of them on my 3 Scars... I actaully need to replace one now. Everything else on the gun has been extremely solid.

My Echo1 with minor mods (lol):
b4 MOSFET by Fireman
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aw7XtAtx7zE

With MOSFET and 11.1v Lipo
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RCUsePrd3ds

If you have anymore specific questions, I will prob have an answer. I love Scars... If only ICS had a Split gearbox version...

ok, so this is what I gather so far,
INGREDIENTS FOR A MONSTER SCAR

1. GOOD MOTOR (LIKE A MAGNUM)
2. 6.03 CHAMBER
3. "MAGIC" HOP UP (do they really make ones with bb illuminators in them?)
4. 130, maybe 190 or 200 spring?
5. SHIMMED GEARBOX
6. LONG BARREL (AT LEAST 12-14 INCH)
7. A GOOD LIPO (min 9.6) or a BLOCK HEAVY 12V

did I miss anything?

so Shwell, should I go with the AGM, I was told they use cheap parts maybe in their components.
AGM-$180
all else are minimum $350-$450
I really dont want to spend 450 on an aeg that works just as good as a 180 dollar one
so , my question, would the AGM be able to handle a 130 or 120 spring, and a 12 v or atleast 10v and up batt? also I do want a high ROF atleast 20-27 rof.
with gears shimmed.

or should I spend the money and get the 400 dollar ones?

Of the clones the AGM is my least favorite (This excludes the JLS).... If you can hold out a bit, I am sure the Dboys and Echo 1's will be avail again. Just not certain, all retailers are guessing on availability at this point...

The higher end guns are great guns. The VFC is strong externally, internally they are not proven to be better than the clones. G&G is a great gun, a few of them have shipped with trigger issues, but most of them are great right out of the box. I think the CA Scar's are overpriced....

Looking at your goals and also the mods you want to do, I would not recommend buying an expensive one.. It sounds like you will want to upgrade everything (pretty much) therefore staying under $300 would prob benefit you in the long run. The higher ends guns (Most of them) are only higher end because of QC, and since you will have the gun opened to upgrade almost immediately that QC is pretty much useless for you. So buy inexpensive, proven clone and make it into the gun you want. This is what I did with my Echo 1.. 363mm TBB, New motor, Reshim, new spring, New hop up bucking and nub, MOSFET by Fireman, and AOE adjustment... And I would put this gun up against any Scar on the Market.

*The new clones apearently are all coming with Reinforced Vers 2 gearboxes.. That is the only concern I have with your build plans, not sure a standard GB will hold up (ForLong) to that kind of power. And barrel length is totally up to you, this design is outstanding.. I run the 363 length in mine and have to use the longer outer setup, but it is perfect.

A good shim job, and AOE adjustment and you should be Lipo Ready. And for a Motor, I use AMP Hi Torque motors that are half the cost of the Magnum Motors and performs just as good if not better.. I 2 AMP motors on 2 different guns, and a G&P M120 hi speed motor... My Systemas are sitting on my work desk..

Hp ups for Scars are Proprietary, so there are not many options for the actualy Hop unit itself, you should always have a spare or 2 laying around, but you are better off investing in better bucking and Nub..

If I was in the market for a new one.. Iwould look at the G&G version, and the Dboy/Echo1 versions. As mentioned above, the Stock pivot on the Clones is the weakest part of the build.. I Epoxied mine and still managed to break it.

If I was not on a spending hold, I would buy this gun and mod the hell out of it.. Great value.

this is a review i gathered, g&g are the best rated everywhere I looked. I was also told that the echo1 is good but cheaper so with my modding it will be cheaper to work on.

"G&G
A.E.G. is truly today's "TOP OF THE LINE" A.E.G. First Impression: For
anyone that have ever seen an G&G A.E.G., have the gun and the box
in hand, G&G AEG are no doubt guns with the BEST finish in terms of
the external finish on the guns, material used and on their packaging.
Their appearance and quality is solid. In a material comparison report
showed that G&G uses MUCH higher quality material than other
leading brands such as Classic Army.
Internals: G&G uses more reinforcement internal parts than all
leading brands. Tight bore barrel, metal bushing, reinforced piston,
full metal hopup chamber, 25000rpm high torque motor, reinforced steel
gear set, and reinforced gearbox are standards of all G&G AEG.
(These reinforcement parts will normally cost you at least $200 or more
on a Classic Army or Marui.). Which is why all G&G AEG comes with a
30 day warranty and full factory support. The manufacture stand behind
their products unlike many other brands. The most important part of
all, G&G internal is compatible with majority of the after market
replacement and reinforced parts unlike Classic Army AEG (where most of
the time you can only use cheap made in china parts exclusive
manufactured by classic army).
Performance: Consistent power output. Due to the built in tight bore
barrel, it is more accurate and have better grouping than AEG with
stock barrel. (High quality bb such as Matrix, Excel, Marui recommended
for all tight bore barrels). Great Range and power.
Conclusion: There are many great value made in China A.E.G. out there
for Airsoft starters, but once you are no longer a starter and you want
an A.E.G. that will last, is consistent and something that is "TOP OF
THE LINE", this G&G A.E.G. is your choice. Five years ago Tokyo
Marui was the "TOP OF THE LINE", but due to Japan's regulations, they
cannot have metal bodies and they do not offer reinforced internals
since the power output is regulated in Japan.
