I'm well familiar with exploding capacitors. A couple of my classmates in my Cisco networking class during my junior year in high school thought it might be interesting to see what would happen if you plugged it into a light socket. Shock of all shocks it exploded blowing the cap almost 20 feet away. We had a science class later that afternoon where we were also working with capacitors except these were the ones that were the size of a 6v lantern battery. The dumb asses thought it might be a good idea to see what would happen if they plugged that into a light socket. Thankfully they never did but I was high tailing it around the other side of the cinder block the separated the lecture area from the lab itself.

Real or fake? Fake, I could build a great looking thing with lights and crap. I'll even use a 12 volt. If you need a real one, call Israel. We all know they have a few.

Psh... We'll see a large mushroom cloud over by his house once he accidentally sets it off with a 12v.

cheers to inmediasres

To anyone who doesn't know, I'm the one who got Shar onto them in the first place...

Now I just need him to see the wonders of Lipo so he can stop having that huge battery sticking out of his PEQ box. :-D

I would be careful what info you give him he might make some franken battery and either fry himself or melt his gun.

I saw this a while ago and found it again. Chances are you have seen it already but...

It scares me a little, but it could be fun.

Auto mentioned a set like that to me a but back. I think they mention the same ones in the thread there.

I'm not a fan of the short stroked idea. I used to short stroke everything until I realized that you tend to get more out of a non short stroked piston and a light spring.

At the same time, in looking around for something else to replace that piston and gear set on Evike's site I noticed they began to sell these pistons that come short stroked that you buy for the length of barrel.

They make a lot of sense in terms of having a piston that only pulls back as far as the hole in the side of the cylinder. I mean, anything beyond that is a waste. On the flipside, you do get more spring compression and more power as a result of it. I know in the past when I have short stroked I've lost about 10 FPS per tooth.

I'd say short stroking is great if you don't mind being in the low 300's and you have an M4 or shorter barrel but if you want to be more like 350-400 or have a barrel longer than an M4's, short stroking may do more hurt than good. :-/
