Subject: BEST VHF FOR YOU BUCK Wed Jun 23, 2010 2:18 pm
After doing alot of research, I have decided that VHF is the way to go 1. better sound, Rx and Tx (Receive and Transmit) 2. twice the distance than UHF in open area or pinewood 3. we mostly do outdoor play so UHF is not needed since we never play in hi rise buildings 4. the VHF signal is perfect for flat wooded (yes wooded) area and rolling hills (not mountains) 5. I read in a few ham operator forums that pine needles foilage actually amplifies the signal therefore firezone and florida is perfect for this radio. 6. ability to "tag on" to local repeaters 7. will be great for my S america jungle expeditions with the ability to talk to our bush pilot before he lands and between base camps. (by attaching a 2 or 1 m antenna to a backpack or installing it in base camp)
I had a few choices 1. to go expensive (like yeasu, kenwood or ericsson) brand new 2. buy used ericssons or yeasu which u never know what condition they are 3. like always, I decided to go asian, in this case - CHINESE.
choices were LINTON LT 2288 PUXING PX 777 FEINDEXIN FDC150
RANGE FOR ALL ON GOOD CONDITIONS IS REAL 8-15, (not the imaginary 30 mile advertise by family type gmrs and walkie talkie UHF the likes of Midland)
all strong radios.
finally, i decided on the px 777 in addition to a pair of fdc150 as a backup total of 4 radios fdc150 were 35 dollars each plus 12 for shoulder mic-ebay px777 were about 49 each plus 10.99 for shoulder mic-ebay both in china the compareable new yeasu or kenwood are about 250-300dollars each . I got 4 radios with mics for the same money reviews are great for these. people who climb everest and do the Dakar racing use them in some of the forums I visited and all in all. GREAT RADIOS (the px777 are going to be my mains, I will give the fdc150 to teammates on games)

See, I'd be all about getting a radio like that but then I'd only have like 3 guys to talk to unless it can get in to the same bands that the Motorola Talkabouts most guys use do.
The other day at CC I was going to ask what your frequency was and then saw your radio and thought "oh, nevermind..." I had a few times when I wanted to radio you and was angry I couldn't.
I guess I'm going to go with the majority radio type even if it's not the best. Maybe down the line I'd think of getting one of each but that just seems like a pain to go back and forth.

add 20 bucks and you got yourself a px888 (the dual band) so u can use VHF while MONITORING UHF! AND SWITCH BACK AND FORTH.i may yet to get 2 additional radios like that. those chinese have a billion bright minds, and their schools are better than ours plus more scientific minded students, no reason why they cant surpass america on every aspect of technology.

Chris, there are programable for those frequencies... That is the Beauty of them.. They are very good and can be used with the lower end stuf most people use....
I had a PX888 for all of 2 days... It was great, programming was a bit of a hassle, but well worth it.. The Radio has great range, and is very clear... I made the mistake of fiddling with mine while in the port-o-john at Waynes World and lets just say, it is not poop proof.. Or piss proof...
I have not replaced it yet, but I most def will before I start playing agin.. The 777 and 888 will get the job done for any of our Airsoft needs..
