The JG Golden Eagle Enhanced M130 Gearbox Hell Review

Well I know a lot of people dont like JG and the fact that they are made in china but for 70 bucks this gearbox is a beast. This is the gearbox that came in my Stubby when I bought it. These Come in all the "Li-Po ready" JG guns on Evike I believe. Now I have been running this gearbox now for a good 6000 rounds on an 11.1v lipo and another 2000 on the stock 8.4v trying to kill it so I can upgrade to something better.

I think for someone that is starting off in Airsoft this is a great box to start off with (but im not good with gearboxes so maybe fireman can chime in about this box). Now there is a few cons to this box its loud as hell and with a longer barrel than I have on my stubby you will more than likely be shooting hotter than 400fps but for the price I am thinking about dropping one in my custom DMR im making.

But who knows maybe I got a fluke and it wasnt suppose to last as long as it has but still for 70 bucks I personally think its a hell of a deal.

u are right on the noise holden my jg g36 is great but it is loud maybe all their gearboxes are that way, but dont get me wrong i love my gun it has yet to give me any problems in the 4-5 months i've had it.

I just opened up my Enhanced JG M130 box.

The gears were stupid loose due to poor shimming, the poly carb piston fit sooo tight around the spring it actually had resistance while pulling it out.

It does have a ball bearing piston head but im sure the spring still bound up in the piston.
Mine was noisey too. Some was gear noise and some was a weird spring rattle after every shot in semi.

Im not knocking it at all. Ive run about 17k-20k rounds through it with a 9.6v 1600 NiMH.
The stock Golde Eagle "high" torque motor and 9.6 were only able to produce 14rps at best.

It shot 418-423fps new and at the game 2 weeks ago it shot 406-411fps on Tedders chrono, again after 17k-20k rounds.

I have not opened it up for maint. since I bought it so it still had the original grease in it. The only reason I opened it up was to install one of Firemans FET's and some routine maint.
The pistin showed very little wear in it and the piston teeth look almost completely unmolested.

This gear box is tough as nails for the price. I know it hasnt had any LiPO abuse but 17k-20k rounds with an M130 and everything held togethr beautifully.

The only thing I plan on doing to it is shimming, AOE adjustment, MOSFET, BB spring guide, bore out the inside of the piston to give the spring more room to move freely, PC BB piston head and add an 11.1v 2500mah 30c LiPO. Maybe an M150 (if Tedder keeps my old spring) and SS it 2 teeth...Maybe.

My original JG non-enhanced GB broke right at the front of the cylinder after about 10k-12 rounds. I did short stroke it 2 teeth, swiss cheased a PC piston, BB PC piston head and an M120 with the stock JG high torque motor ans the 9.6v. It was shooting 336-345fps at 21-23rps.

Well, i was really going to buy that exact gear box, but instead i decided to get a Matrix/ Aim top M160.
Havent had the chance to shoot the darn thing yet, because the M160 motor i bought hasnt come in yet.... =P

Well I thought the gearbox failed today but after coming home I noticed the bbs were still being fed through the gun. So after doing a quick field strip I saw that a chunk of the piston sitting on the spring and realized the gearbox is fine and after taking it apart every gear looked fine (no metal shavings or burs ) even the trigger contacts looked fine. So I still say this is an amazing gearbox for the price but I am unsure now what to do with it. One send it to fireman to have him work his airsoft voodoo once I get a replacement piston, or two scavenge what I can out of it and have it for parts. Below is a pic of the piston.
